Seagoville Boy Calls 911, Saves Grandmother's Life

Emergency officials are praising an 8-year-old North Texas boy whose brave 911 call helped save his grandmother's life.

Layethan Foster maintained his composure while explaining to the dispatcher that his grandmother was having trouble breathing last moth.

His grandmother, Sherrie Foster, said pneumonia created a vicious coughing fit in which she struggled to breathe and felt on the verge of passing out.

Layethan called 911 and told the operator his location as well as the nature of the emergency; crews arrived within minutes.

On Monday, the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional 911 Program and Seagoville Police Department gave Layethan the 911 "Kid Hero" award at a ceremony at Seagoville Police Headquarters.
