An inert replica grenade found in an abandoned bag led to the evacuation of a charter bus and a response from the Plano bomb squad on Monday morning.

According to police, they were called to a gas station near the corner of Spring Creek Parkway and U.S. Highway 75, where a Flixbus charter bus had stopped in the parking lot.

From Texas Sky Ranger, just before noon, a member of the bomb squad was seen working near the bag while wearing a blast suit.

A suspicious bag that was phoned in to police as a bomb threat Monday morning has led to an evacuation of a charter bus and a road closure in Plano, police say.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the bag belonged to a passenger from the previous day. The passenger was contacted and he told officials the grenade was an inert war replica that had belonged to his grandfather.

Plano police said the HDU X-rayed the device and confirmed it was inert.

Police said early Monday afternoon that there was still a considerable police presence in the area wrapping up the investigation and that there was no public threat.

Flix North America, which owns FlixBus, told NBC 5 they were in direct contact with all affected passengers and were working to arrange alternative transportation to help them reach their final destinations.

No injuries were reported.
