One Dead, One Injured in Dallas Crash

Dallas police say two cars may have been racing when a Crown Victoria crashed into a traffic light pole. The driver died at the scene, the passenger was taken to the hospital.

One person is dead and one person was injured after the car they were in crashed into a pole in Dallas overnight.

Eyewitnesses tell NBC 5 two cars were racing at the time of the crash.

Dallas police say a blue Ford Crown Victoria was possibly racing a green Grand Marquis at a high rate of speed eastbound in the 8000 block of Great Trinity Forest Way.

Dallas police say 23-year-old Frank Bellamy Jr. crashed the Crown Victoria into a metal traffic light pole at a curve in the road just before the C.F. Hawn Freeway.

Bellamy died from his injuries, police say a passenger in his car was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
