Authorities said a driver crashed into a police car that was blocking traffic due to a crash that shut down Interstate 635 in Dallas Monday morning.
Dallas police and firefighters responded to a call about the crash on eastbound I-635 near Hillcrest Road at about 3:30 a.m.
At about 4:35 a.m., a 29-year-old man crashed his vehicle into the squad car that was being used to block traffic near the original collision, according to authorities.
Police said the man was given a field sobriety tests at the scene and was determined to be not intoxicated at the time of the crash. No charges are pending.
Dallas Fire-Rescue officials said no officers were transported to hospitals with serious injuries. No one was transported to a hospital in the initial crash either.
Authorities said they closed eastbound I-635 at about 3:50 a.m. and diverted traffic off the freeway at Preston Road. Two right lanes were reopened by 5:45 a.m. and the remain lanes were opened by 6:20 a.m.
No further details have been released.
