A Midland man has died from injuries he suffered when he released the parking brake of his pickup from outside the truck and it rolled over him.
Midland officials in a news release Monday said 68-year-old Modesta Mesa died at a hospital after the accident in his driveway.
Investigators found that Mesa was trying to back out of his driveway early Saturday but couldn't release the parking brake on his 2007 GMC pickup from inside the cab.
He got out of the pickup and kneeled beside the truck to release the brake from the outside.
The GMC was in reverse when the brake released and the vehicle backed over him.
