McKinney Tightens Regulations on Sex Offender Residency

Residency rules for sex offenders living in McKinney have changed.

The McKinney city council has voted to require that convicted sex offenders live at least 2,000 feet away from any place children gather.

The new requirement, which only applies to newly registered sex offenders with a conviction involving a child, takes effect immediately.

Frisco, Plano and Richardson all have similiar ordinances.
