Manpower, a company that matches employers with employees, surveyed 150 of its clients in the Metroplex, to determine the job outlook for the next quarter.
From July to September, 15 percent of the companies interviewed say they plan to hire more employees, while 8 percent expect to cut staff. That means a 7 percent increase to the workforce, 2 percent more than this time last year.
Within the survey they found, 73 percent expect to maintain their current staff levels and 4 percent are not certain of their hiring plans. Certain industries like telecommunication, manufacturing, and banking are losing workers.
The survey also showed the Metroplex will lose jobs in retail which will hurt students looking for summer jobs.
Manpower's Dallas Regional Manager William Marzullo says there is hope. "For those people who are out of work or underemployed the opportunity to get jobs are still there and that's positive," said Marzullo.
Manpower suggests those looking for work reinvent themselves, including training and learning new skills in construction, hospitality and customer service where the jobs are growing.
Manpower says ultimately the job market looks good compared to other states.
