An investigation is underway after a man was shot to death by Allen police.
On Sunday at about 12:30 a.m., police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of South Jupiter Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle and suspicious persons.
Someone called police to report that individuals in a white pickup truck were shining flashlights all around the area and had honked the horn for an extended period of time.
When police tried to pull over the truck, the driver began to drive away.
The truck eventually stopped and when officers approached the vehicle, they said the driver accelerated, attempting to back over one of the officers at a high rate of speed, police said.
Police fired into the truck as one officer was trying to avoid being crushed between the vehicle and the tree, according to police.
A man inside the truck, identified as 21-year-old Mark Guirguis of Plano, was killed and another person was injured.

No Allen police officers were injured.
Police say at the time of this incident, Guirguis had an active arrest warrant for evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.
Officers also determined the pickup truck involved in the incident was confirmed stolen by the Dallas Police Department.
This is the second officer-involved shooting in the city of Allen in a month.
Two officers shot and killed a man during a domestic disturbance call in early December. Both officers, according to Sgt. Jon Felty, are back on duty. Their names were never released.
"Everyone wants to know these officers names and identities, we understand that and our desire is to be transparent," Felty said. "But we live in a day and age that when we start releasing officer information like that, it is an officer safety issue. They start receiving death threats, they start receiving threats and online harassment."
Prior to these incidents, the last officer-involved shooting was on Valentine's Day in 1993.
It is Allen police protocol to have the Texas Rangers investigate officer-involved shootings, which are then turned over to the Collin County District Attorney's Office.
