Man Gets Prison Over Grandpa's Fatal Push From Roof

A plea agreement means 10 years in prison for a Fort Worth man whose elderly grandfather died after being shoved off a roof.

Prosecutors say 41-year-old Myron Lee Wilson and 81-year-old Claude Downey had argued before the grandson pushed the older man and he fell as both worked on a roof. Downey suffered fatal head injuries in the Feb. 26 incident.

Wilson was initially charged with murder, but he pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge of reckless injury to the elderly causing serious bodily injury. Prosecutors say Wilson has a record of misdemeanor assaults and served time in prison for a 2004 attempted-arson conviction.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Wilson.

Prosecutor Sheila Wynn says the sentence was appropriate considering the facts of the case and the wishes of Downey's widow and other children.
