Five homes in Waxahachie were hit by lightning at nearly the same time Monday night, it was a real test for firefighters.

Monday night's storm system brought a damaging display of lightning. Several strikes were reported almost simultaneously at about 9 p.m. in Waxahachie.
The city's fire department said it responded to five calls of lightning strikes to homes in areas all over town. Three of the strikes resulted in major fires.
Two condos on Hibiscus Trail were destroyed when strikes burned holes through the roof and into attics, where insulation quickly ignited.
At the Teeter home on April Lane, firefighters had to rescue the family dog as a strike burned a hole through the roof into the second-story home, destroying ceiling and dropping debris to the ground floor.
Waxahachie's fire department received help from 20 off-duty firefighters and departments from five neighboring cities.
No one was injured in any of the fires.
