Bayou Cat owner Phi Nguyen came to North Texas right before Hurricane Katrina ravaged his home in New Orleans, now he’s waiting for Hurricane Isaac to make landfall on the 7th anniversary of Katrina.
People who left New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina seven years ago are keeping an eye on Hurricane Isaac.
Looking for better opportunties, Phi Nguyen came to the Metroplex right before Katrina ravaged his New Orleans home.
"It was an ugly sight, and I'm hoping that tomorrow, during the anniversary, we're not going to have to deal with it again," he said.
Nguyen’s father and siblings still call New Orleans home but are now in Houston as Isaac hits.
"You can see that people are taking it much more seriously now than they did before," Nguyen said.
More than 1,800 people died as a result of Hurricane Katrina. With $81 billion worth of property damage, it was the costliest natural disaster in American history.
Many people decided to evacuate and never returned to New Orleans.

Nguyen, who called New Orleans home for 28 years, decided to bring a taste of home to North Texas, opening up Bayou Cat.
"This storm doesn't only test the leevee, but it tests the faith and confidence," Nguyen said.
