Hometown Hopefuls: North Texas Gymnasts on Road to Rio

Several North Texas gymnasts are in the running for Team USA at the Rio Olympics. Alyssa Baumann and Madison Kocian train at WOGA in Plano. That’s the same gym that produced all-around gold medalists Carly Patterson in 2004 and Nastia Liukin in 2008. Bailie Key and Ragan Smith train at Texas Dreams in Coppell. Their coach is Kim Zmeskal-Burdette, 1991 all-around world champion and bronze medalist at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. There are just five coveted spots on Team USA for Rio. The gymnasts who will go for the gold will be selected in July at the U.S. Olympic Trials in San Jose, California.
