Granbury HS Students Graduate Weeks After Tornadoes

The 2013 graduates in Granbury are excited to walk across the stage only weeks after tornadoes ripped through North Texas.

Graduations are celebrations of accomplishment. For Granbury seniors, nearly 400 graduates celebrate their biggest accomplishment only a few weeks after the area was devastated by tornadoes.

Granbury was hit by an EF-4 tornado on May15 when 18 tornadoes swept across North Texas.

"I'm pretty excited," Dillon Whitehead said.  "I couldn't have been here without being blessed with this community and God saving me, keeping me alive."

Dillon lost his home and both of his grandparents in the storm. He nearly lost his mother who was hospitalized from injuries after the tornado.

"I'd just say that I love them, and thanks for everything they've done for me in getting me this far," Whitehead said.

He plans to attend Texas A&M University this fall and study meteorology after a life-long fascination with weather.
