Frisco Teacher Arrested for Improper Relationship with Student

A Frisco teacher is free on bond after being accused of having an improper relationship with an underage student.

Travis Chupe, a 35-year-old eighth grade math teacher at Staley Middle School, was arrested Wednesday after the parents of a 14-year-old student reported the alleged offense to police.

Police said the teen was a student in Chupe's class.

An arrest affidavit said the student's parents saw text conversations between the student and Chupe that were sexual in nature. Later, when speaking to police, the teen allegedly claimed that she and Chupe met at a Frisco park, where they kissed and he touched her breasts.

Chupe was arrested and charged with having an improper relationship between a teacher and a student and for indecency with a child -- both charges are second-degree felonies. He was released after paying $2,500 bond for each charge.

According to a bio on Frisco ISD's website, Chupe is married and has two children. Before teaching, Chupe worked in the technology field with FISD for eight years.
