Firefighters in Dallas Battle Apartment Fire in Extreme Heat

Extra firefighters were called in to help fight an apartment fire in Northwest Dallas Saturday afternoon.

Extra firefighters were called in to help fight an apartment fire in Northwest Dallas Saturday afternoon.

The first crews arrived shortly after 1:30 p.m. at the Villa De Zocalo apartments in the 3000 block of Webb Chapel Extension.

Shortly after arriving, crews called a second alarm, bringing extra manpower to the scene to help fight the fire and give crews a break in the extreme heat.

The fire was extinguished in less than an hour.

Several apartments were damaged and the American Red Cross is now assisting those people who were impacted.

One person was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be okay.

Investigators determined that the fire was sparked by an electrical short in the third floor apartment.
