EMT's Help Fort Worth Supergirl, 6, Trick-or-Treat

In Fort Worth, 6-year-old Eden Brooks celebrated Halloween as the only thing she knew how to be – Supergirl.

Brooks has a rare condition that causes muscle weakness, blindness and paralysis. For most years, trick-or-treating is out of the question.

"It's not really feasible for me to take her by myself because she requires so much equipment to make sure that she is safe," said Beth Brooks, Eden's mother.

For 2015, Eden had some backup.

MedStar sent a crew of EMT's to her home to pick up her and escort her, and her mother, to trick-or-treat in style.

The MedStar EMT's pulled into her neighborhood and literally pushed her, door-to-door, on a stretcher and helped fill Eden's candy bucket.

"Most of our field crews see people at the absolute worst time -- when they're having serious medical issues, or trauma," said Matt Zavadsky, MedStar spokesman. "This is an opportunity for them to do something fun, do something altruistic for the community, and do something for these families."
