Dollar Day Disappoints for Dallas Zoo

Weather likely to blame for poor attendance

A good deal may not have been enough of a lure to bring people out into the cold at the Dallas Zoo on Wednesday.

Zoo offiicials said Dollar Day attendance, when admission is only $1, fell by nearly 80 percent on Wednesday -- compared to the same day last year.

This year, just over 5,000 people visited the zoo on the day before Thanksgiving.  Last year, when it was 72 degrees, zoo attendance was more than 24,000.

The high temperature on Wednesday was 46 degrees.
