Decatur High School to Reopen Monday After Flood Damage

Restorations crews will be working around the clock to clean up Decatur High School after Friday’s massive down pour flooded portions of the building.

Students at Decatur High School will be back in class Monday, following an unintended week off due to school damage caused by floodwaters.

Drains on the top of the high school collapsed, sending water gushing into the building and flooding an area near the main entrance. Classrooms were not affected, but there were some offices and areas near the gym that were damaged by water.

To make up for the week of school that was missed, high school students will be dismissed 15 minutes later each day for the remainder of the school year. The new dismissal time will be 3:50 p.m.

None of the other campuses in Decatur ISD were damaged.
