Dallas Monuments Men Foundation to Donate Art Stolen by Nazis

Material to be unveiled Tuesday

Officials of the U.S. National Archives are set to announce newly discovered material related to art works stolen by the Nazis during World War II.

A news conference on the announcement is set for Tuesday morning.

The material, which has been held privately, will be donated to the National Archives by the Dallas-based Monuments Men Foundation for the Preservation of Art.

U.S. Archivist David S. Ferriero will attend the news conference, as will Robert M. Edsel. He launched the foundation that honors and continues the work of the men and women who helped Allied forces protect cultural treasures during World War II.

Ferriero says the announcement will concern "a significant discovery which will allow for a more complete view of Hitler's premeditated theft of art and other cultural treasures."
