Dallas Cowboys Linebacker Arrested for Aggravated Assault

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested for aggravated assault near Toyota Stadium in Frisco. The husband of one of the alleged victims told NBC 5 his wife was at the stadium, saving a parking space for her son, when she encountered Wilson.

Police said they arrested Dallas Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson for aggravated assault near Toyota Stadium in Frisco Tuesday night.

Frisco police said they charged Wilson with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at 8 p.m. in the stadium's parking lot during Frisco's Freedom Fest.

According to an arrest report, Wilson was arrested "when he intentionally backed his truck into a female while parking, then brandished a rifle at another male causing him to be in fear."

Wilson's bond was set at $20,000. He's already bonded out of jail.

Wilson's agent said Wilson has no comment at this time.

The husband of one of the alleged victims told NBC 5 his wife was at the stadium, saving a parking space for her son, when she encountered Wilson.

"He told her move out or I'll run you over with my pickup, and he did," explained Israel Preza. "I was angry last night because it's not right. I am a man. I would not hit a woman. It's not right."

Preza says his wife was "traumatized" by the experience.

"So the guy came out with a rifle and she was hiding in the parking lot," Preza said.

About four hours prior to his arrest, Wilson tweeted from his official Twitter account, "when your words get you in trouble." What he was referring to is unclear.

A spokesperson from the Cowboys released a short statement: "We are aware of the situation, and we are in the process of gathering information. We will not have a comment at this time."

No further details have been released.

Wilson has been with the Cowboys since 2015 when the team selected him in the fourth round of the NFL Draft out of Minnesota. In two seasons with Dallas, he has totaled 49 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 32 games, including six starts.

Wilson was injured in July 2016 in a freak accident when a stray paintball struck his right eye.

The injury forced the linebacker to miss the first two weeks of training camp because blood in that eye impaired his vision.

"It's one of those things you look back on and [understanding] it was just foolish," Wilson told NBC 5 when he returned to camp last year. "Camp was right around the corner and you're out there doing something foolish. It was just not smart."

Training camp for the Cowboys' 2017 season begins July 24.

NBC 5's Meredith Yeomans and Noelle Walker contributed to this report.
