The Dallas City Council voted for a proposed Jackson Street alignment of DART’s proposed second downtown light rail line, but must now go to Washington to get federal funds to build it.
The Dallas City Council this morning overwhelmingly chose what’s called the Jackson or Modified B4 alignment for Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s second downtown light-rail route. Council member Philip Kingtson, who prefers an underground route through downtown, cast the sole dissenting vote.
DART wants to secure about $400 million in federal funds to help build the second set of light-rail tracks. The project is dubbed “D2.” The DART board’s final vote on a route is expected later this month.
