Teen Injured After Car Surfing

Fort Worth police say a 16-year-old boy is in the hospital with a head injury after he fell off a moving vehicle while car surfing.

The incident happened at about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of  Arborwood Trail and W. Cleburne Road, police said.

Police say the teen was one of two riding on the trunk of a sedan driven by a girl. When the driver made a sharp turn, the boy fell off the car and struck his head on a curb.

He was taken by helicopter to  John Peter Smith Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Police cited the girl for driving without a license and the other boy, who was not injured, received a citation for improper riding.  The mother of the driver received a citation for allowing her daughter to drive a vehicle without a license, police said.

Police did not name the teenagers involved because they are minors.
