Truck Carrying Modular Home Hits Bridge Along East Loop 820

Southbound East Loop 820 reduced to one lane

At least one person was hurt Wednesday after a string of collisions in East Fort Worth in which a truck hauling a modular home slammed into an overpass, shearing off part of the home's roof.

Officials have not yet revealed the cause of the crash, but from Chopper 5 it's evident the home suffered significant damage to the roof after it apparently collided with a bridge. Part of the home's roof has been sheared off, exposing the framework, insulation and other building materials.

The driver of the truck came to a stop along the southbound Frontage Road to East Loop 820 in front of the Lancaster Avenue Bridge.

The second vehicle believed to be involved in the crash came to a stop in the southbound lanes of Loop 820. After being removed from the sedan by firefighters, medical personnel transported the driver to an area hospital.

The conditions of those involved in the crash are not yet known.

Traffic in the southbound lanes of East Loop 820 was reduced from two lanes to one while the scene was cleared. The roadway has since been reopened.
