Arlington Bank Robbery Suspect in Custody

A person suspected of robbing an Arlington bank around noon is in custody, police said Wednesday afternoon, after swarming a residential neighborhood amid negotiations.

The suspect was arrested around 3 p.m., hours after police surrounded a home in the Enchanted Bay subdivision in southwest Arlington, established a perimeter and began trying to negotiate.

Police were clearing the area just after 3 p.m. and were letting drivers back into the neighborhood, which they said they had searched and deemed safe.

Arlington police, along with a police helicopter and Fort Worth police, had descended on that location in the 7000 block of Smugglers Cove, just off Treasure Island Trail and just north of I-20, soon after a bank robbery was reported in the 700 block of West Sublett.

That bank robbery investigation will continue, police say.
