Area College Students in Paris Safe, Accounted For

College students from area universities are safe and accounted for following a series of deadly attacks Friday evening in Paris, the schools tell NBC 5.

Southern Methodist University reports 11 of its students are currently studying in Paris, and school officials have heard from all of them that they are safe.

SMU said it is advising the students to remain in their residences or stay with friends, and to contact their parents. And school officials are advising SMU students in other parts of Europe to take extra precautions.

The University of Texas said all of its students studying in Paris are safe.

Baylor University has one graduate student in Paris, and that student is safe.

Oklahoma University confirmed all five students studying in Paris are safe.

There are no students currently studying in Paris from Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University or the University of North Texas, school officials tell NBC 5.
