Active, Visible Gas Leak Forces Evacuation in Garland

A large gas main has ruptured under a street in Garland, with a visible vapor cloud forming above the leak.

A construction crew is being blamed for rupturing a gas main in Garland Tuesday morning.[[483961961,C]]

The two-inch main is located along the 1700 block of North Yale Drive, near Justice Lane.

Garland fire officials said gas was detected in one home, which was evacuated, and that three other unoccupied homes are being monitored.

No injuries have been reported.

Atmos said the leak will take several hours to control the leak. Fire officials will remain in the area monitoring gas levels until the leak has been repaired.
