5 Things to Know About the State Fair of Texas – Saturday

Let’s get social with Kristin Dickerson NBC 5 & Web Expert Matt Jackson from the State Fair of Texas! Today we are testing out some beautiful caramel apples that you can find at the fair.

It's day 2 of the 2017 State Fair of Texas. Here's 5 things you need to know before heading to the fair on Saturday.

  1. The 2017 State Fair of Texas Pie Competition. The bake off is held in the Creative Arts Competition Kitchen. There are 7 different categories including Chocolate, Citrus, Cream, Chess, Buttermilk, Nut & Sugar Free. The judging takes place at 10:30 Saturday morning.
  2. From 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., you can check out "I Spy Texas" inside the Briscoe Livestock Center. Here you can learn more about agriculture and it's significance on our everyday lives.
  3. You can also check out the "Lone Star Stampede" inside the Pan Am Arena. There are 4 show times on Saturday, 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. & 6 p.m.
  4. The United States Marines Drum & Bugle Corps will perform at 4 p.m. You can catch the performance at Marine Corps Square.
  5. Stay late to see Flo Rida on the Chevrolet Main Stage. The rapper will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The best part, admission to the show is included with your daily state fair admission.
