$41 Million Reserves Center Opens Near Austin Airport

Military officials have opened a $41 million reserves complex near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to provide more room for troops and training.

Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday at the Armed Forces Reserve Center.

The 209,000-square-foot site is about 10 times the size of the previous facility serving the Texas Army National Guard and members of the Army Reserves.

The new center, which has space for vehicle maintenance, will also be home to Marine reserves.

The complex has room to train about 1,400 reservists.
