Early Sunday morning, Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to Cook Children's hospital after a four-year-old was reported to have been shot in the neck.
Officers arrived shortly before 1 a.m. to begin an investigation into the shooting.
According to Fort Worth Police, a mother and father were traveling with their two children on Bright Street near Forbes Street in the Polytechnic Heights neighborhood where they passed a group of men and gunshots were fired.
The family left the area quickly and when the group stopped to see if everyone was okay, the parents found that their four-year-old son was shot in the neck.
They drove to Cook Children's hospital, where police say the boy suffered non-life threatening injuries and was in stable condition.
Fort Worth police said the investigation is in the preliminary stages and had no new updates on the case Monday morning.
