16 Displaced in Oak Cliff Apartment Fire

At least 16 people are now homeless after a 2-alarm fire swept through a two-story building at the Samari Ridge Apartments in South Oak Cliff Saturday morning.

NBC 5 has learned the fire started in the kitchen of a unit occupied by a woman and six children. The woman told NBC 5 that she had been living in the apartment building for two months.

The complex is located on the 3400 block of Great Trinity Forest Trail.

There were several vacant units in the apartment building and no one was injured.

An arson investigator was called to the scene and officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

NBC 5's Mola Lenghi contributed to this report.
