1 Dead, 1 Wounded After Shootout in Southern Dallas

A man was fatally shot Wednesday night in Dallas. There have been many violent crimes across city with 199 murders to-date this year.

One man is dead and a woman wounded after a drive-by shooting outside a convenience store in Southeast Oak Cliff Wednesday night.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to a shooting about 7:38 p.m. at the intersection of Simpson Stuart Road and Bonnie View Road.

According to police, the shots were being fired between people in two sedans -- one gray and the other white.

As the suspects fired their weapons at each other, one man and a woman who were standing outside the Hi!-Mart convenience store were shot, police said.

The man, identified at 57-year-old Morris Martin, was taken to Baylor Medical Center where he died, police said. The woman was also hospitalized with a gunshot wound to her hand.

Police said children inside the woman's car at the time of the shooting were not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.
