Concerns Rising About New Suicide Lifeline 988

Concerns are rising on social media about the new 988 suicide and crisis lifeline, a new national mental health hotline. In viral posts, critics on Twitter and Instagram have said that calling 988 could lead to intervention by authorities, nonconsensual treatments and become an invasion of privacy. We took those concerns to psychiatrist Dr. Sejal Mehta, President of the Collin Fannin County Medical Society.
