Zoo Animals Treated to Frozen Feast

Animals at Rome’s zoo were treated to a special surprise Tuesday. Fruit icicles and frozen blood lollipops (yes, blood lollipops) were served to help them keep their minds off the heat. For the animals at the Bioparco Zoo, the more than 90 degree temperatures are bad enough, but coupled with 33 percent humidity, the midday heat feels more like 104 degrees. Along with the cold treats, animals are supplied with plenty of water and shade to make them as comfortable as possible.
