New High Heel Prosthetic Developed By Students

A group of college students has developed a prosthetic foot to fit into high heeled shoes. The foot was developed as a senior project for engineering students at Johns Hopkins University. It’s a prototype and is a long way from becoming commercially available, but it could some day prove useful to women who’ve lost a leg to injury or illness. It would be the first prosthetic foot that’s not custom-made to fit heels up to 4 inches high. The ankle is adjustable and includes a hydraulic unit that helps with a smooth gait.
