Grasshopper Found in Van Gogh Painting

A Kansas City researcher has found a strange item embedded in a Vincent Van Gogh masterpiece: a grasshopper. Mary Schafer took a close look at Van Gogh’s “Olive Trees” painting. After taking a close look with a microscope, she found part of an actual grasshopper. Researchers believe it’s been there for more than a century. It’s well known that Van Gogh painted outside — so seeing insects in his paintings isn’t uncommon.
