Cicadas Emerging With a Loud Buzz

In New York state, cicadas are emerging for the first time since 2001. The red-eyed, red-edged-winged creatures come out from underground every 17 years. They’re the source of the loud buzzing sound you hear during summer. That sound is produced by male cicadas who trying to attract a mate.
