A police chase in northern Collin County ended in a crash between an SUV and a truck carrying portable bathrooms Wednesday afternoon, the Wylie Police Department confirmed.
A chase in Collin County ended in a deadly crash Wednesday after a 15-year-old boy took his mother's SUV, fled police and crashed into a truck carrying port-a-potties, Wylie police said.
The teen has been identified as Austin Schell.
The teen died after the crash at the intersection of Texas Highway 78 and Gaddy Street in Farmersville, according to police.
The incident started with a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex in the 100 block of South 5th Street in Wylie, police said. When officers arrived, they found a woman, later identified as the boy's mother, bleeding in the apartment complex parking lot.
Police said witnesses gave them a description of a vehicle the boy fled in, which was his mother's SUV. When police tried to pull him over, they said he fled.
The pursuit stretched along Highway 78 into Farmersville, where the SUV crashed into the truck.
Police said their investigation has revealed the teen struck his mother several times in the head with a baseball bat. She was transported to Medical City Plano where she is in intensive care and in serious condition.
Police said the driver of the truck was uninjured.
