Wanted Suspect Eludes Police After Chase From Fort Worth to DeSoto, With Help From Bad Weather

A suspect with an outstanding warrant for possession of a weapon was at large and last seen in the DeSoto area after a police chase Wednesday night.The chase began around 10:30 p.m. somewhere in southern Fort Worth after a license plate check of a Volkswagen Beetle during a traffic stop turned up the outstanding warrant, police said.The chase continued on Interstate 20 into DeSoto and wound up around I-35E and Wintergreen Road, where the suspect bailed out of his car near a motel and disappeared into a wooded area, police said.Officers from Lancaster, DeSoto and the Dallas County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search. DeSoto officers employed a night-vision drone, but bad weather conditions prevented the use of helicopters, police said.A handgun was found after officers searched the vehicle.  Continue reading...
