The Dallas Morning News Recommends David Blewett in the June Runoff for Dallas City Council District 14

Incumbent Philip Kingston’s greatest weakness is his inability to accept the importance of compromise. This is not a good trait for a member of a governing body that requires collaboration.Tone matters, and for that reason, we recommend mortgage banker David Blewett over three-term council member Kingston to represent District 14, a diverse district that includes downtown Dallas, Uptown, historic East Dallas, Turtle Creek and Oak Lawn. It is one thing to be a true believer and quite another to be an endlessly combative cynic, and Kingston too often is the latter. It is no surprise that this tendency, which frequently surfaces in clashes with staff, fellow council members and constituents, undermines the effectiveness of a man who often asks the right questions.  Continue reading...
