Report: Trump's Actions as President Now Under Scrutiny in Special Counsel's Investigation

WASHINGTON -- Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller has asked the White House for documents relating to President Donald Trump's actions since he took office, including the firing of his national security adviser and the FBI director and a meeting with Russian officials, the New York Times reported Wednesday. In addition to seeking documents about the firing of National Security Adviser Mike Flynn and FBI Director James Comey, The Times also reported -- according to White House officials interviewed -- that Mueller is interested in an Oval Office meeting Trump had with Russian officials. Trump said at that meeting that Comey's firing had relieved "great pressure" on him.The document requests are the most specific so far about the investigation and show that Mueller is focusing on what Trump has done while he's been president.Mueller's office sent a document to the White House seeking more information about 13 different areas, prompting administration lawyers to gather White House emails and ask officials if they have other documents or notes pertinent to Mueller's requests.. Information was ought from the May meeting between Trump, Russian foreign minister, Sergey V. Lavrov, and Russian ambassador to the United States at the time, Sergey I. Kislyak, along with other Russian officials. The special counsel also has asked for documents about how the White House responded to questions from The Times about a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower set up by Donald Trump Jr. to get information from Russians about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.Trump's lawyer, Ty Cobb, has told Mueller's office that he will turn over many of the documents this week.--The New York Times  Continue reading...
