Judge Sends Kaufman County Race to Special Election After Finding Voter Fraud But No Way to Determine Winner

KAUFMAN — A visiting judge certified six more ballots in the contested Republican primary for the Kaufman County Court-at-Law seat Friday, then declared that voting improprieties proven in the case had left no way to determine the true winner.As a result, contestant Tracy Gray and incumbent Judge Dennis Jones will meet again in a July 21 special election, with the winner advancing to the general election in November.The provisional ballots certified by Judge Martin Lowy on Friday actually gave Gray the lead in the race. But her two-vote margin wasn't enough to offset five mail-in ballots thrown out by the judge — ballots challenged by Gray herself in bringing the suit to Kaufman County district court.  Continue reading...
