Husch Blackwell Hires Away 14 ex-Gardere Wynne Sewell Lawyers in Texas

Mere days after a Dallas law firm merged with an out-of-state firm, 14 of its former lawyers are joining Husch Blackwell in an aggressive expansion of that firm's legal team in Texas.The lawyers all formerly worked at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, which merged Friday with Milwaukee-based Foley & Lardner LLP. They'll work in Husch Blackwell's Dallas, Austin and Houston offices.Husch Blackwell, based in Kansas City, said in an announcement Monday that the hires beef up its Texas expertise in insurance, banking and finance, eminent domain and government affairs.The firm had 612 lawyers in 18 offices and ranked 70th in size in the National Law Journal's 2017 ranking of U.S. firms.
