Happy Hour in the House: Texas Lawmakers Give Initial Nod to Earlier Beer and Wine Sales on Sundays

AUSTIN -- You might say it was happy hour in the Texas House on Thursday afternoon.Members voted resoundingly for letting retail stores sell beer and wine starting at 10 a.m. Sundays rather than noon. The 99-40 decision ratified a pitch from Muenster Republican Rep. Drew Springer, who said it would be great for Texans to be able to shop for beverages before Sunday kickoffs.Minutes later, members further endorsed Austin Democrat Eddie Rodriguez's proposal permitting craft beer breweries to sell beer to go just as smaller Texas brew pubs already do.  Continue reading...
