Grand Prairie Police: Burglary Suspect Fatally Shot While Trying to Steal Rims, Tires

Grand Prairie police are investigating the shooting death of a man Tuesday morning who they say was confronted by an apartment resident during an attempted burglary of the resident's vehicle.The shooting happened around 2 a.m. in the 1900 block of West Tarrant Road, police said. When officers arrived, they found the man in the parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries. Investigators believe the man was trying to steal rims and tires from a vehicle when its owner heard the sound of "an impact tool" and confronted the suspect, police said.The vehicle's owner was armed with a gun and shot the suspect multiple times, police said.The vehicle's owner is cooperating with detectives, Grand Prairie police spokesman Mark Beseda said.  Continue reading...
