Garland ISD Teacher Acquitted of Indecency With a Child Charges

A Dallas County jury has acquitted special education teacher Michael Roell on his single criminal charge, indecency with a child by contact, a second-degree felony.In a case investigated by Sachse police, Roell was accused of improperly touching a 14-year-old boy in early 2016. The jury returned its not guilty verdict Monday.According to court documents, Roell's attorney had challenged the competency of witnesses against him. The boy who was the complainant in the case suffers from short-term memory loss, court documents said, and said in recent counseling sessions that he did not remember being touched by Roell. The boy, now 16, also told a counselor last July that Roell "watched me when I went to the bathroom" and "was really close to me," documents show.   Continue reading...
