From Eating Dirt to Campaign Cash, Beto O'Rourke Is Giving Cruz, Cornyn Plenty to Tweet About

WASHINGTON — A recent profile of White House hopeful Beto O’Rourke included the so-strange-it-has-to-be-true factoid that the El Paso Democrat earlier this year ate some New Mexican dirt that supposedly has regenerative powers.Among those to notice the bizarre anecdote was Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the Republican who last year fended off O’Rourke in a hard-fought Senate battle.“Words escape me,” Cruz wrote on his sometimes serious, sometimes playful Twitter account.Words about O’Rourke’s nascent presidential campaign have otherwise been fairly forthcoming for Cruz and Texas Sen.
