DeSoto Schools Superintendent Resigns as Trustees Look Into Concerns

DeSoto schools superintendent David Harris resigned after being on leave from his post for more than a month.Trustees held a specially called board meeting on Monday to accept his resignation. The board relieved Harris of his duties in February and hired an attorney to investigate concerns about his duties and performance.That investigation is ongoing and no details have been released yet, spokeswoman Tiffanie Blackmon-Jones said. Harris, who could not be reached for comment, will remain with the district through April 13, serving as the special assistant to acting superintendent Larry Watson.Speculation surfaced in February suggesting that Harris' leave was connected to the open high school football job though others have said the two are unrelated.
