Dallas ISD to Lose Yet Another Key Educator With Deputy Superintendent's Exit

Dallas ISD will lose yet another top leader as the deputy superintendent departs for the top job in a Washington state school district.Ivan Duran, who has been with DISD for less than a year, is set to be the next superintendent of the Bellevue school system, a growing suburban district of about 20,000 students just outside Seattle.He was named one of three finalists this week. Dallas Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, who said Tuesday that Duran had been offered the Bellevue job, has selected a replacement to keep DISD on track."There's a lot of opportunity for great work here, so I'd be sad to leave, but this was just a great fit," Duran, 51, said after he was named a finalist. While not an urban district like Dallas or Denver — where Duran also served — the high-performing Bellevue district is facing shifting demographics and serves an increasingly diverse student population, including those struggling to learn English.  Continue reading...
