A Year After Voting for Change, City Council Ready for Results From Dallas City Hall's Leader

Before Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax reflects on his first year at City Hall, he has a question: "Why do we have to do a 'year' story?"Broadnax, the city's most powerful government official, often begins interviews with a do-we-have-to demeanor. It's never clear if he's joking. Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates describes him as "kind of an introvert.""He's not warm and fuzzy. He's kind of all-business," Gates said. "He's not personable. He's not, 'I want to befriend you.'"But Broadnax, who has made numerous changes in what was, at times, a tumultuous year at City Hall, said he has taken stock of his time in Dallas. His conclusion: He's tired of playing catch-up."Quite honestly, I don't think we've done much other than what we should have done already," Broadnax said.
