2 Granbury High Students Drown in Reservoir While Skipping School

Two Granbury High School students died Monday in an apparent drowning, officials said. In a Facebook post, Granbury ISD said the high school was mourning the loss of two students who "tragically passed away" Monday in a non-school incident. Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens responded to Wheeler Branch Park where two people were found and airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The names of the two students have not been released. Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds Hood County said he was told the two victims were with a group of other young people who decided to skip school and go swimming at the reservoir near Glen Rose.The other kids reportedly rescued the drowning students before first responders arrived on the scene, Deeds said.Additional details about the incident, which occurred in neighboring Somervell County, were not immediately available.Counselors and administrators will be on hand at Granbury High to speak with students and staff.  Continue reading...
